Purpose of the role
As Finance Director, you are a strategic partner to the Senior Management. You will be responsible for the financial leadership, direction and management of B&S Europe. Your role is to provide financial expertise to enable a successful operationalisation of the business strategy. You will lead the accounting & control teams and you will report to the Managing Director.

Key responsibilities
  • Develop and operationalise a financial strategy to support the company’s growth and development;
  • Ensure that all of the company's financial practices are in line in statutory regulations and legislation;
  • Oversee and input into the budgeting and forecasting process - liaising with the business to ensure accurate and timely budget submissions
  • Seek out methods and practices to minimise financial risk;
  • Update and implement financial policies and procedures;
  • Make sure year-end closing is done in a timely manner;
  • Drive the implementation of internal financial analysis tool (Maconomy);
  • Provide ad hoc reporting to the GOPA Group;
  • Overseeing the financial accounting inputs/output to/from the business to ensure that transactions are accurately and timely posted, and reflect accurately business activity
  • Ownership and responsibility for the full P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash flows
  • Oversight and accountability for any internal or external audit activity required
  • Ownership of the local financial statement process including accuracy and timely submission
  • Prepare official reports on a monthly and annual basis;
  • Oversee the financial controlling of all B&S projects and monitor budgetary performance;
  • Create processes to improve reporting and provide accurate analysis of
  • Support and motivate the accounting and control teams;
  • Set objectives and conduct performance reviews;
  • Train and coach team members.
Desired competencies and experience
  • You have an advanced degree in accounting, business, finance, or a related field;
  • You have a strong financial background with at least 10 years’ experience in this field, as well as 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role;
  • You have good knowledge of the Belgian GAAP;
  • Previous experience with financial management of projects funded by the EU or international donors is an asset;
  • You are a strategic thinker with a genuine curiosity for understanding how organizations operate (business processes), challenge the status-quo, and have a critical mind-set;
  • You are hands-on, results-oriented and quality-driven with outstanding analytical skills;
  • You have a genuine interest in B&S Europe’s mission and recognise yourself in our values: honesty, empathy, professionalism and dynamism;
  • You are an inspirational leader who enjoys helping your team grow and meet their full potential;
  • You hold yourself to high standards of integrity and trust;

  • You are computer literate and you able to quickly learn how to operate new software;
  • You are fluent in French and English, German is an asset;
  • You are open to travel 5-10% of the time, mainly to visit B&S-led projects;
  • Above all, you are a true team player with a friendly, open personality and a sense of humour.
